WTF It’s a question that’s been asked since time immemorial: Could a woman create an online dating profile “so loathsome that no man would message it”? Cracked’s crack investigative reporter Alli Reed decided to solve the “omnipervet paradox” once and for all by going on OKCupid and posting what she firmly believed was the “worst online dating profile ever. There did indeed exist a woman “so awful, so toxic, so irredeemably unlikeable that no one would message her, or if they did, at least they would realize they never, ever wanted to meet her. In creating her profile for “AaronCarterFan,” Reed used the real photo of her model friend Rae to entice gentlemen callers. But that was exactly where AaronCarterFan’s attractiveness ended and her repugnant personality began. Her self-summary was the infamous “if u cant handle me at my worst u dont deserve me at my best”; the thing she was really good at was “convincing people im pregnat lol”; and under “favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food,” AaronCarterFan wrote “soooooo glad their making another Grown Ups. Reed considered the possibility that the men who replied to AaronCarterFan simply skipped over the profile and went straight for the photos, so she gave them the benefit of the doubt. In her denouement , Alli says she could conclude that social conditioning has made it impossible for men to see women as more than just the sum of their appearance, but she won’t.
Yes, yes, I know that we girls have our own set of cliche photos hello, feet in the sand? Grain of salt, people. But boy oh boy, have your photos made my day on more than a number of occasions. Often with wardrobe changes. Oh men, I know that the bathroom is probably the home to the largest mirror in your house, so I get why the bathroom selfies would theoretically be a good idea. And where do first impressions take place in real life?

What was once the repository for the dregs of female creation has become—for better and worse—a go-to dating option for a growing segment of even top-shelf girls. The whole process is really the product of a perfect storm in the American dating market.
Economic realities and cultural shifts have also made going out less appealing. Girls, as I have written elsewhere, have hair-trigger tolerances for awkwardness and discomfort. A growing number of the quality guys—disillusioned by crushing male-to-female ratios, high drink costs, cockblocking, the fatty epidemic, and other night-life realities—have largely checked out of the club-and-bar scene.
Email Sh’reen Morrison had been on an online dating site for only a few weeks before she realized that something was seriously wrong with the man who had been actively pursuing her by text message and email. They’d hit it off right away, and he said he lived just outside of Phoenix, which seemed relatively proximate to a woman in remote Yuma, Ariz. But meeting in person was always a problem.
First, he was traveling through India with his daughter. Then the daughter became ill and had to be hospitalized. When Morrison suggested that her suitor put his daughter on a plane to get better medical attention at home — and even offered to pick the girl up at the airport — a new crisis struck.

But it seems some singletons are so desperate to make an impression, they’ve gone to extreme lengths to make their profiles stand out – whatever the cost. The following profiles, spotted on OKCupid, feature people who have donned fancy dress, enlisted elaborate props and made bold claims, all in the pursuit of romance. From a Buzz Lightyear costume to boasting about a ‘ninja sword’, they are proof that some people will stop at nothing to get a date.

One singleton hope her bodily quirk would attract a date Now that’s romance! This man claimed to have eaten ‘the skin off the bottom of a guy’s foot’ ‘If you wanna be my lover’: Rather sweetly, this man spoke more about his friends than himself If you want to find out more about this man, you’ll have to ask an intelligence agency it seems Is that an innuendo?

Our second early warning sign of abuse is: Insults you, calls you names This may seem like an obvious warning sign.
The increased awareness of bullying behavior has brought this warning sign more attention. Names, particularly if they are hurled at you by someone who claims to love you, can be terribly painful. If that person is your boyfriend or girlfriend it becomes a whole different story. As in the first warning sign calling names is about control and humiliation. We all have dealt with nicknames and insults, even among our friends. You might be a nerd, a jock, a popular and be proud about it.
Having others call you names might roll right off you. You need to be able to tell the difference between a silly nickname and an abusive one. An abusive partner will tell you that no one else will love you because you are fat, ugly, stupid — pick a word.
