Comments Truck Camper Magazine readers reveal the back-up cameras they use on their truck campers. The power for the camera comes from the running lights above the camper entry door. The monitor plugs into a volt convenience outlet on the dash. It comes in very handy when backing up to my garage at home to load or unload. I no longer need my bride to help with this task to prevent running into and crushing the gutters it has happened, twice.

I bought a 13a to french 2 pin adapter in France they are availabe at most DIY outlets, I use this on some of the older sites that only have french sockets. Get a polarity tester, I have found 8 out of 10 sites have some sockets that are reverse polarity even on new bollards! I made a reverse polarity lead up using a blue plug and trailing socket with the live and neutral wire reversed, and labelled it accordingly With all these leads I can cover any situation.

Position 1 Hi, Just to say thank you for the wonderful job you did yesterday, fitting out our motorhome. It was better than we both expected, going the extra mile to add covers to the arms on the cab seats and covering the trim panels. The workmanship is of a very high standard. We found all your staff to be friendly, helpful and very professional. Thank you for the cushion cover and the modification to the head rests, they are far more comfortable.
We took our motor home to our Dealer for some minor repairs and the staff were very impressed when they came out to see your work. Best wishes Celia and Brian Oldham September We had our twenty-one year old motorhome reupholstered and recurtained this week by Regal Furnishings and we are absolutely delighted with the result. It looks like new. In fact the fabrics are a better match for the interior than the originals. Mick was very patient as we tried to choose and offered some very good advice, without pressurising us in any way.
Is towing with a Motorhome really needed? Is having a tow car a must have on RV trips? It can depend on how and where you travel. How often you hit the road and what type of Motorhome you have. Smaller coaches like Class Bs or even Class Cs maybe just fine to maneuver around town or in natural areas.
If the campground has a cable TV hook up connect your TV coax cable from the RV to the cable connection. If they don’t offer cable raise the TV antenna on .
I don’t have a steering wheel lock. Since the Owners manual went into a long laundry list of things to do I sent Jeep an email asking for clarification. Had they stopped after the second paragraph I would’ve been happy. However, they continued on regurgitating the owners manual and continuing to confuse the issue. Here is what they sent me: Customer can verify this vehicle is not equipped with a steering wheel lock by performing the following test: Vehicle started – turn the steering wheel to the full lock, hold it against the stop, then turn off the vehicle and validate the steering wheel is not locked while turning all the way back to center straight forward position.
The customer should refer to the User Guide for recreational towing information.

We hope that some of the things we have done to our coach might give you a new idea or, better yet, trigger an idea of your own that specifically fits you, your living style, and your motorhome. Electrical Modifications For some reason unknown, Mike enjoys working with electrical circuits. Therefore, it was fun most of the time , rather than a chore, to make changes to our motorhome’s electrical circuits.
Some volt duplex receptacles were moved and some were added where we felt the need. Of course, the most difficult part of the changes was finding out what wire went where or was fed from where.

Brake control Battery power The first four pins are the same as the standard flat-four connections, and are connected to the tail light wiring harness run during Phase 3 above. The last two pins are used for the braking system. A standard Unified Tow Brake installation uses a separate two pin umbilical. I didn’t want to have to hook up two umbilicals each time, so I combined all of the wires into my own custom six pin umbilical.
This works out well for me since the motorhome hitch includes a seven pin blade socket, and the coach came factory pre-wired for the Unified Tow Brake, sending the brake signal out the brake control pin of this connector. I came up with this scheme six years ago when I installed everything on my last truck. It appears that the installation instructions for the toad-only kit for pre-wired motorhomes have since been updated to include this wiring scheme, as there is now a section to this effect near the end of the installation instructions.
I don’t recall this being there six years ago but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there at the time. I thought it would make things easier since it includes the 6 pin socket, and is pre-wired with a flat-four connector for the lights, and blunt-cut wires for the remaining circuits. The plan was to simply connect the two flat-four connectors together. Unfortunately, both connectors are the same gender and won’t mate. So I cut them off and spliced the wires using more heat shrink weather resistant butt connectors.

Water Water – but not everywhere At home we don’t need to think much about utilities like water – it’s all there quite literally ‘on tap’. The simplest answer of course is to use a container to collect water from a nearby tap as caravanners do. In practice this means having another container as well to take the waste water but these are not very convenient in a motorcaravan where you are frequently on the move – even if just for days out.
In practice then almost all modern motorhomes of any size will have both fresh tanks as permanent fixtures and many will have waste tanks too. The tanks are kept dark either in a cupboard or by being made from black polythene to help prevent algae growth. The filler is usually outside with a locking cap – and a clear symbol for water, to discourage anyone from filling up the water tank with fuel – but this is not unknown – nb!!
How will you keep the water clean, fresh and drinkable? What about freezing in winter? Each site will have standpipes for drinking water even remote farm sites have them – usually in the field but sometimes at the farm. At home we prepare for a trip by flushing out the tank with a couple of mini-fills of our chlorine-laden home tap water, flush through the taps, then fill the tank right up and use the water just as we would at home, including delivering all drinking and cooking water through a decent in-line filter.
